  1. >HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOMOROW UNCLE CHARLIE! I MISS YOU SO MUCH AND LOVE YOU MORE THAN YOU WILL EVER KNOW. – YOUR NIENCE – LAURIE

    Uncle Charlie

Jason and I welcomed our first child, Christine on September 5th. Charlie was thrilled that she shared his birthday! I remember sharing that moment with Charlie in conversation, the awe that he had. His sister’s first grandchild was born on his special day in September. Charlie’s heart was filled with joy. It was a blessing that we could all celebrate the birth of two special people each year. For Christine’s birthday every year, it is fair to say we have had fairly large parties. Charlie always participated with love and amazement of his great niece as well as everyone there sharing the day together. I have to admit, I didn’t always have a cake for Charlie on that day. But, never did I see a man so humble. He wasn’t there to receive attention to himself. He was there because he had a never ending love for his family.

What I have always realized with Charlie is that even though his cross was a heavy one to carry, he did so with grace, forgiveness, gratitude and love for his brothers and sisters. His heart was pure and as innocent as a child.

Even though I know Charlie had his own anxieties, when he listened to me, I felt as though I was the most important person to him at that moment. His optimism was redeeming.

Charlie had the success that I still work to achieve everyday. He had a full life. I would tell him all of the time, Charlie, your gift was given to you by the Holy Spirit. A gift of song.

He shared it with us from his heart, soul and bones. He showed us how to listen to the whisper of God.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. May God Bless you and Keep you Charlie. My prayers will be with you. No more substitutes for love. You are home now, may God’s love consume your soul. May your music play loud on Earth so we may all hear.

  2. >THERE WAS SEVEN YEARS DIFFERENCE IN AGE BETWEEN US. WHEN I WAS LITTLE WE HARDLY KNEW EACH OTHER, I JUST REMEMBER HE ALWAYS HAD KETCHUP ON EVERYTHING!! MIXED HIS MASHED POTATOES WITH HIS CORN AND PUT TONS OF KETCHUP ON IT! CHARLIE WAS ALWAYS WITH BROTHER COACH. IT WAS ALWAYS COACH AND CHARLIE. WHEN CHARLIE MARRIED HIS FIRST WIFE GENIE, I WAS IN THE WEDDING. WHEN HIS MARRIAGE FAILED AND MINE DID TOO, WE BOTH WERE LIVING WITH MY DAD. THIS IS WHEN WE REALLY BECAME CLOSE. I FINALLY GOT MY OWN PLACE IN LIVERMORE, AND CHARLIE MOVED IN WITH ME AND MY BOYS. HE WAS LIKE A FATHER TO TONY AND MATTY. CHARLIE MET LYNN GOT MARRIED. MY BOYS AND LYNNS SON SIMON WERE THE THREE MUSKATEERS. FROM AGES 7 THRU THE TEENS CHARLIE AND I SHARED ALL THE TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS WITH THE BOYS TOGETHER. IF THE KIDS WERE NOT AT MY HOUSE THEY WERE AT LYNN AND CHARLIES.

ALSO A COPY OF A SONG (don’t know the title if there ever was one) FEELING ALL THE BENIFITS OF LOVE? ALSO THE SONG, BALANCE ON THE BIG WHEEL? I BELIEVE CHARLIE RECORDED THESE WITH YOU WHEN HE WAS IN NEW MEXICO.

  8. hi ross. this is anthony, katey’s grandson. i was wondering if you had any other copies of songs. im in love with my uncle’s music. thank -anthony

  9. Hi Anthony
Are you asking if I have more music (recordings that are not at the site)? Or, other types of audio files that you can have? Also, I have to moderate all comments because of all the spam that comes. So if you don’t see your comment right away, it is because I have not had a chance to approve it… Ross

  10. Hi ross. thanks for replying to me. yes i would like to have more music on the website. its would be fantastic. I also just listened to unendable love and so long old friend. both songs show the justice of his great music. Anyways thank you .

  11. I have over 100 cassette tapes that are filled with recordings (many are Charlie and me all the way back to 7th grade). The problem is finding time to go through them. Many are 2 hr. cassettes that might have a couple songs of Charlie and me, then a different band or group, then some Beatle songs… you get the point. That’s how we did it in the old days. Also, Charlie and I would just turn on a tape and let it go and play for an hour (or until my parents would pound on the wall to stop haha.) I will try to pull out a few and see what I can find. One that Charlie and I did like in 1972 (we were 19), was the Lemonts songs. We did all 4 of those tunes in like 2 hours playing all the instruments. Charlie (guitar, drums & vocals) Ross (bass, pianos & trumpet). Dick Wright also sang some backup. We were so excited to be recording and it inspired me to build a recording studio later in life where we did tunes like So Long Old Friend and Josie. Charlie and I spent many years writing and playing music. Charlie and I used to compete on the bars at school in 5th grade, to see who could do the scariest tricks. Anyway… thought you might like to know a little about us. This just might be the catalysis to motivate me into digging through all those cassettes… Ross

  12. wow. that is very cool to know how you guys were. and also that is A lOT of cassettes. my father (or dad) told me that you guys were like brothers so this shows the example of it all. its so intersting. i also have a friend named charlie whose in my grade 5th and he says he plays piano. and i told him “dude i like to play acoustic guitar, so since i told my mom that i was interested in singing and playing guitar that i wanted to go to hollywood to record mabey you could be the piano player”. he replied with ‘oh that’s awesome “. but i kinda knew that he wasn’t interested like i was. but anyways i do like to sing and play guitar and whenever i sing my voice matches in with the guitar.

  13. Okay, I dug through a couple tapes looking for more tunes Charlie and I did and found something I had been looking for, for years. It is not a new tune that you haven’t heard, but it is the original, fresh, 1 hour old, song Red Sunset. We would get an idea, then record a few parts to hear how it might sound. We did that many, many times. I added it under songs… Red Sunset Original

  16. Hi Anthony
I’ve setup a new audio player and was having trouble with a few of the tracks. Sorry, I’ve been real busy. I just tried to fix the track you are talking about. It is on Songs… called Lemonts. Please see if it works okay… Ross

  17. Hi Ross. Quick question, do you know if anyone or you possibly could have a video of Charlie. It would be fantastic to see him again.
    -Anthony
